The Sailing School offers evening classes to adult (18 years +) club members on Tuesdays through the Spring and Summer months, and Saturday classes in Spring and Autumn. These courses are run at attractive rates for members.
Tuesday evenings and Saturdays are generally dedicated to beginners with students working towards RYA Level 1 and 2 Dinghy certificates.
Also during the Spring and Summer months, the club runs on a Thursday evening, informal race coaching sessions, these are set aside for members that already have a basic or advanced sailing ability but wish to further their knowledge of racing, but in a more relaxed environment than the full blown Sunday Race series. This includes sailing with Spinnakers, Seamanship etc, these are run by our RYA accredited Race Coaches.
The Spring and Autumn Saturday courses are arranged to meet the requirements of new members joining during the season. These courses are usually preceded by ‘Taster’ days, when experienced club sailors introduce non-members to sailing.
Training is undertaken in either the club’s fleet of boats or individuals boats should they wish to use their own. The current PBSC fleet consists of Topper’s, Laser Pico’s, RS Feva, Laser 2000’s and RS Vision Dinghies as well Catamaran training in the clubs DART 16’s.
During the year, RYA Power Boat Level 1 & 2, as well as RYA Safety Boat courses are also run using the clubs fleet of RIB’s and Displacement boat. 2016 Courses are downloadable here
